Teleperformance Security and Facilities personnel together with the members of the MMDA Public Safety Division at the MMDA Disaster Preparedness Training
Teleperformance, the world’s leading provider of outsourced customer experience management services, recently convened its security and facilities teams in basic disaster preparedness training conducted by the Public Safety Division of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to enhance the capabilities of the company in responding to natural calamities or man-made disasters.
Fifty security guards and facilities personnel attended the two-day Disaster Preparedness Training, which is part of Teleperformance’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP). The BCP is a company-wide collaboration of various departments at Teleperformance to safeguard employees and to ensure normalcy of operations during calamities such as typhoons, earthquake, fires and other man-made accidents.
MMDA Public Safety Division Chief Aldo Mayor led the disaster preparedness training with a team of MMDA personnel specializing in disaster response and mitigation. During the first day, Teleperformance personnel were briefed on the principles of hazards and disaster management, basic knowledge on rescue tools and equipment, techniques in search and rescue operations, and background on the characteristics of various structures and construction materials used in the Philippines.
On the second day, the Teleperformance team underwent practical training at the MMDA Disaster Preparedness Training and Emergency Response Center at the Napindan Flood Control Structure in Makati City. The team engaged in applying the search and rescue principles on simulated disaster scenarios, such as extricating victims from collapsed structures, administering first aid to survivors, establishing a relief zone, and mobilizing team members and rescue resources.
During the training, it was further explained that the Philippines lies in the Pacific Ring of Fire, where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. On top of that, the country is being battered by strong typhoons causing massive floods and landslides which result to destruction of properties and loss of human lives. Teleperformance, therefore, aims for its employees to be informed and ready should disasters strike the community.
